marianne – typeface design
type design and experimental distorting typography – postcards
This project was about developing a typeface from start to finish. My Idea was to create a clean font that is easy to adjust and to use while showing a young character. Important for this was a small amount of edges within each letter. I was planning on creating a typeface that uses the same stroke width throughout the whole glyph set. Using a big paintbrush, I was able to recreate the idea of a wide stroke and build the letters within my own grid.
While finishing and testing the typeface, I made a few adjustments in the end. Due to bad legibility I changed the edges and the complete form of the letters. I decided to create round shapes to make them even and more to my liking. Here you can see the changes I made with some of the letters.
